Choosing the Correct Electric Boiler for your Home

Which Electric Boiler is right for me?

Are you seeking a new Electric Boiler, or thinking of making the switch from gas to electric, and don’t know where to start? Fortunately for you, The Electric Heating Company has several boiler options to suit your needs. We will discuss the available alternatives to assist you in making the correct boiler choice for you.

We have several different Electric Boilers to choose from; including our Comet Electric System Boiler, our Mercury Electric Combi Boiler, our SlimJim Electric Flow Boiler, and the Comet Combination Unit.

  1. Comet Electric System Boiler

The Comet Electric System Boilers are 100% efficient, come with an easy to use control panel and are designed to eliminate unnecessary external plumbing and pipework and incorporate a six-stage heating solution using a stainless steel heat exchange. This ensures maximum efficiency by modulating the boiler to reduce electricity consumption and running costs.

Our Comet Electric System Boiler outputs are 6kW, 9kW, and 12kW and 14.4kW. For properties that require more significant outputs we also offer 3 Phase versions from 19kW to 48kW.

All Comet Boilers can be installed for heating only or heating and domestic hot water purposes when used with an S plan configuration in conjunction with our twin-channel heat pack and hot water cylinder.

Best suited for – wet central heating and underfloor heating systems.

  1. Mercury Electric Combi Boiler

The Mercury Electric Combi Boiler offers a cost-effective alternative to electric storage heating, oil, solid fuel or LPG systems. This premium Electric Boiler provides the perfect solution to properties with no access to mains gas supply or homes with gas boiler restrictions, e.g. listed buildings. Not only is the Mercury Electric Combi Boiler the ideal choice for wet central heating, but it is also suited for underfloor heating and offers the added benefits of weather compensation and advanced service diagnostics.

Outputs for the Mercury Combi Boiler are from 12kW and 14.4kW for single-phase and 19kW and 26kW for three-phase, providing instant domestic hot water and heating. If you have a bath in the property then we recommend only 19kW and above.

Best suited for – small properties with no reach to mains gas that have a shower and hot water outlets for sinks.

  1. SlimJim Electric Boiler

Limited space for your boiler? No problem. Our SlimJim Electric Flow Boiler has been specifically designed for properties where space is at a premium. The SlimJim is a fully controllable Electric Boiler which is 100% efficient, silent in operation, easy to install and created to maximise cupboard space.

The SlimJim comes equipped with a user-friendly front control panel, where the temperature can be set between 30 to 80 degrees, making it an ideal choice for wet central heating and underfloor heating systems and incorporating a thermal cut-out device to protect the boiler from overheating.

Outputs for the SlimJim Electric Boiler are 4kW, 7kW, 10kW, and 12kW, with the 14.4kW available for properties that require larger outputs.

Best suited for – properties where space is at a premium.

  1. Comet Combination Unit

If you have no access to mains gas then the Comet Combination Unit is the ideal boiler choice for you. The Comet Combination Unit has been designed to offer ease and convenience whilst maximising the use of space due to its enclosed design. To minimise installation work and costs, the Comet Combination Uni comes supplied as a pre-plumbed and pre-wired all in one heating and hot water solution.

The unit has built in Weather Compensation which will automatically modulate and reduce the input temperature of the boiler in relation to the external temperature which reduces boiler cycling and could reduce energy use by 15% per annum. The 140l Internal Hot Water Store boasts an Anti Legionella tank cleansing function, allowing the system to operate cleanly and safely.

Outputs for the Comet Combination Unit are 9kW, 12kW or 14kW.

Best suited for – properties with no access to mains gas that requires an elegant storage solution

Each Electric Boiler discussed above has its own advantages and benefits depending on the needs of your home and all come with a five-year guarantee*. For further information please visit our website or feel free to contact our team of professionals today.
